Lilith first appeared as a Sumerian entity who dealt with humans by influencing women and controlling men. In Hebrew and Islamic mythology, Lilith was Adam's first wife; instead of being formed from his rib, Lilith was formed from the same dust as Adam, therefore making her his equal. She was eventually banned from Eden because she refused to submit and wanted to be on top during sex. For her disobedience, Yahweh cursed her; following this, she became the companion of Asmodeus, thereby becoming the Mother of Demons; after striking out of her own, she became the Leader of the Succubi; all seed spilled from man that does not not go toward reproducing with his wife - nocturnal emissions, seed spilled alone or outside a wife's womb, seed spilled during adultery - belongs to Lilith. Her story reminds us that no man has the right to rule over any woman, and though women may be different, they are equal in all things.
